My name is Nick Neville and I’m senior journalism student at Boston University. I’m a creative and highly motivated multimedia journalist with areas of expertise in writing, editing, television production and managing social media. In today’s ever-evolving media landscape, I am seeking a job that allows me to tell stories in a number of different ways.
After spending a semester in Washington, DC where I interned for the longest-running show on television, NBC’s “Meet the Press,” I have developed a passion for political reporting. This summer I interned with NBC Boston on their investigative team and also wrote for WEEI’s website.
I also have a great deal of experience in sports journalism. After covering beats for BU’s independent student newspaper the Daily Free Press for two years, I served as sports editor the fall of my junior year. This gave me invaluable management experience as I was in charge of all sports content each day and also managed a 40-person team. Additionally, I worked part-time at the Boston Globe as a high sports correspondent. Currently, I’m the producer for Offsides, BU’s only professional sports talk show.
As a journalist, I want to tell stories that inspire people and make them think. An informed electorate is vital to democracy, and I want to make sure that everyone is informed. Additionally, I want to be part of the next generation of journalists that builds up trust in the media. The media landscape is changing so rapidly in today’s technological age, so it’s hard to predict what’s next, but I want to be ahead of the next trend. I hope to one day be a correspondent for one of the major news networks or host my own talk show that combines all my interests and meets at the intersection of sports, politics and culture.
